Osteoarthritis is associated with joint wear and tear, common as people get older and joints are overused or from trauma related incidents.
Autoimmune arthritis concerns the immune system attacking individuals joints. Most common examples are Rheumatoid arthritis, Psoriatic arthritis.
There is also reactive arthritis (a.k.a. Reiter’s syndrome) which develops in response to an infection in another part of the body.
Using osteopathic techniques can help prevent or delay deterioration and encourage quality of movement and release of muscle tightness over joints.
Additionally, by realigning the body we take the undue load on the already worn joints that can be originating from the effect of internal organs.
Osteopathy is also useful in benefiting patients of joint replacement in rehabilitation.
